Ask and ye shall receive!

Thank you for being so patient! Here are a few of our pics.

One of our first pictures of her. We first thought she had red hair, but now it's a light brown.

Her first bath.

The nurse outfitted Elayna with this CUTE John Deere blanket and knitted hat. (It must have been because of Ryan's Southern accent.)

He's such a good Daddy. I can't tell you how much they love each other. She immediately calms down when he takes her. He's got the magic touch, in addition to being Super-Daddy and Husband. He insists on doing EVERYTHING.

This is Andrea, Colonel Clark's wife. We also worship with them at Lakeview Church of Christ.

Getting ready to go home!

Jess & Mabry visited us the other day. Ryan & Mabry are watching Sesame Street.

Elayna LOVES her swing. (And so do we!)

She has some of the cutest and craziest facial expressions. She gives us the I'm-tough-Don't-mess-with-me expression often.

Yawn!

She's got Ryan's toes. You can kinda see a few of her MANY needle pokes and bruises from an attempted IV stick. (They stuck her all over her hands, feet, and head. And never did get it.)

Are those not the chubbiest cheeks you've ever seen?

First home bath.

Real men wear pink boppies.

Getting ready to go to her follow up appointment.

OUCH

Sorry, this isn't a picture post... but you can check out Jess's many pics from the hospital. She downloaded photos and videos of Elayna to a website that allows you to view them and download them directly to your computer.

Just follow these steps:
1. Go to: http://gallery.me.com/oakes03
2. Click on the album entitled "Elayna Vaye"
3. You can either click the "Download" button at the top of the screen and it will download all of the photos and videos into a folder onto your computer, or you can click on each photo and then download the photos by clicking on the download icon (it looks like an arrow pointing down) at the bottom of the screen under each photo.

I've taken a few pictures since we've been home. I'll post them as soon as I can. Our first priority is survival. This child is nocturnal and Ryan & I may have to become night owls as well if we intend to live through parenthood. Just wanted to get on blogger and let yall know we really appreciate everyone's calls, comments, and helpful offers. Things are progressing. Everything's... healing. (Yes, I think that would be a good universal word to describe the conditions of all three of us.) I'll try to get on again soon. Later!

Mabry Meets Elayna

Gloria was finally put into a private room this morning.  She lost the view of Mount Rainier (though you couldn't see it anyway since it has been raining the last few days) but gained some privacy.
Seriously what a cute photo!
Mabry Grace and Elayna Vaye.
This photo is a little miss leading because Elayna's legs are bent in the blanket.  I don't know if Elayna is really big or Mabry is really small.  Or maybe it is a combination of both?!
Sweet girlie sleeping.
Gloria and I both love this photo.
Her hands are larger than Mabry's.
I love a snuggly baby.
Sweet dreams kiddo.
This is a video of Elayna making the weirdest clicking/snoring sound as she slept.  She was so relaxed laying with her Mama.

For Your Viewing Pleasure...

...a few videos of Miss Elayna Vaye.  Make sure you have the sound on your computer so you can hear little noises and stuff that she makes!

Cause We Just Can't Get Enough EV

I caught lots of photos this afternoon with the little girlie's eyes open.  Yeah!!

You can see her tired Mama watching over her in the background.
The tubes in her little hands are where they are still giving her IV medications and things.
She is cute when she tries to focus and goes cross-eyed.  (One of my favorite newborn baby traits!)

Look at those lips.  Talk about comfortable laying right up against Mama.

Video of Elayna Crying

Thought y'all might want to hear the sweet sound of her little cry.

Happy Birthday Ryan!!!

Elayna Vaye Mabry

Elayna Vaye Mabry

9 pounds 13 ounces
21 1/4 inches

Just a quick catch up on the events of the day.  Gloria was put on an epidural this morning as well as some Petocin to help speed along the labor process.  Things seemed to be going smoothly.  Gloria spent most of the morning sleeping and Ryan and I kept each other company talking and watching TV.  But after almost 24 hours of labor, Gloria was only dilated 5cm and had seemed to stop progressing, plus Gloria had developed a slight fever.   Which added with an increase in Elayna's heart rate started talk of a C-section.  Once the decision was made it was only a matter of minutes before Gloria was wheeled off and Ryan (dressed in scrubs) followed her to the OR where Elayna Vaye was welcomed into the world.
Because of the slight fever that Gloria had and the increased heart rate Elayna was having before delivery she is currently being kept in the NICU to be monitored to make sure she isn't suffering from any type of infection.
Like Gloria said, she would much rather that the baby be closely monitored and safe than anything else.
We all couldn't agree more.
All of these photos were taken in the NICU about an hour after the baby was born.
She has the tiniest little cry.
It took a little while after the baby was born for the staff to get Gloria ready to go to the recovery room where she will be staying for the next several days.  But once she was able to be moved we stopped in to the NICU so that Gloria could see and hold her precious little girl for the first time.  What an awesome moment!
She has some brownish/red hair.
She has her Mom's eyes and nose.
We were all a little shocked at just how big she was.  I think we had the mindset that she might be 7 or 8 pounds.  We later found out this was why Gloria stopped dilating at 5cm.  Her body knew that Elayna was too big.
But the bottom line is Mom is healthy.  Dad is happy and excited.  Baby Elayna is here and doing great and looking beautiful.  What more could we ask for?

*I am sorry that it has taken me so long to get photos up tonight.  I know some of you have been really anxious to see Elayna.  I came home from getting my daughter and Blogger and the Internet just didn't want to work.
