Nine Month Milestone

Holy Cow, I can't believe how fast time is passing. Elayna Vaye is 9 months old today. In that time, she has tackled some pretty major feats.

Before we went to KY, she was doing this "wounded soldier" crawl where she would drag/post one leg and crawl on her "good" knee and hands. While in Kentucky, she perfected her crawl and even pulled up for the first time. We were a little worried about how clingy she would be, but oh no. This girl was born to socialize and loved being passed from one person to another.

Back home is another story. She's back to being somewhat shy. When Ryan's holding her, and only when Ryan's holding her, she tucks her face into his shoulder when strangers go up to her. She's so cute!

I supposed we've "shush"-ed her one too many times, just when she gets really excited and screams at the absolute top of her lungs. She's gotten into this very funny habit of whispering, "shh-dada" "shh-mama" and just plain "shh" or "tsst" in her cute little girl voice. Way to use her inside inside voice.

She's somewhat content to play in her pack n play by herself for maybe 30 minute increments. This is great since we've (I've) been packing the house for our move and chasing a new dog around the house. (That's right, we got a new dog. Her name is Matilda and I'll post more about her later.)

Elayna's hair is SO long, it's almost always in a "top knot" (Thanks, Grandma) or "whale spout" (as Ryan calls it) on top of her head. And since it's curly/wavy, it always looks as though I've taken a curling iron to it to get this perfect little "spout." When it's not in a "knot," she looks like she's got a mohawk. It's used to being in the pony tail and stands straight up on end. I'll definitely have to get a picture up of it.

Alright, I hope this is enough to appease all yall "wielding angry pitchfork"-ers (Grandma, Jess... Ryan). I had some time last night to get a few picture posts ready and they'll be coming your way in the next few weeks.

Ryan is scheduled to deploy on the 5th. Rachel flies out immediately after and we start the drive across the country... with a baby, two cats, and puppy. Oh the joy.
