Family Vacation '09

GET READY FOR PHOTO OVERLOAD!

Without her backseat mirror, this is usually what we saw when we'd turn around to give her a gander. She would just stare at us. It made my neck hurt to watch her.

Play with her toys? Oh no. She'd rather play with the hotel paper.

Her first view of the Pacific Ocean.

She didn't like it at all. I couldn't blame her. The water was freezing!

Not too sure what to make of the seaweed.

Or the sand. She wasn't much of a fan of the ocean.

But Sea World was another story. First stop, Shamu!

Shark eggs.

By the afternoon, this was her expression for everything. I think the sun must have been draining her of energy.

She was so tired. Poor baby.

This looks like wall art... but it's really the Penguin Habitat.

Doesn't she looked drugged?! This was even later in the afternoon for another show. And her face never changed. This was her expression for the rest of the day.

Here we are in a polar bear den. It was complete with rumbling bear growls and grunts. Some kids were running like crazies through the caves while others were scared and literally being dragged through by their parents.

Now we're at the San Diego Zoo.

She DID NOT LIKE the goats.

This was my view most of the time. The zoo consists of exactly one million inclines that are SO STEEP. I made Ryan push the stroller for all these hills from... well you know where. The next day, I could barely get out of bed my legs hurt so much.

One baby is more than enough for me to keep up with. Could you imagine having ten?! What a busy little mother duck.

Meet Otis. I think this was Elayna's favorite part of the zoo.

Not sure why, but Ryan just had to have a picture of this duck.

Isn't this animal the most peculiar thing you've ever seen?! I think they're called, "okapis."

We took one day and drove up to Los Angeles. It was overcast, so HOLLYWOOD isn't too clear.

Ryan & I agree that this is the burial plot/shrine that we want. Can you see all the peacocks? There had to be nearly a dozen in there... no joking!

Driving around LA was quite a feat for my Western Kentuckian husband. He has vowed to never go back. It didn't help that the GPS told us to drive down Hollywood Boulevard to get EVERYWHERE. But half of the road was closed for the Hannah Montana Movie Premier.

Mann's Theatre

We saw two celebrities. There's Dora the Explorer and some other guy we didn't recognize, but everyone else around us did and were taking lots of photos.

This is my paparazzi shot of paparazzi.

Lots more has been happening. I hope this holds you over though for at least another week before I can get organized enough to put more pictures on the blog.

14 April 2009

Whew!

I'm sorry. I know I haven't posted in A LONG TIME. SO MUCH IS HAPPENING! Stay tuned for more details.

Here's a preview of what you've been missing:

--Ryan, Elayna, and I took a family vacation to sunny California. We visited Sea World, San Diego Zoo, and LA.

--Randy & Renee came out for a visit. We shopped a local market and sightsaw (is that even a word?) Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

--Elayna is SO CLOSE to crawling. She's all over the place for a not-so-mobile little girl.

--And Juju nearly lost his tongue this morning. He's okay now.

More later! I promise! Just can't tell you WHEN exactly "later" is.
