Okay... OKAY!

We finally have the internet, so I'm able to post on the blog. I know it's been three weeks; a lot's happened. When little miss Mabry Grace decided to arrive early, that put a new spin on EVERYTHING.

Ryan, too cool for words.

Ryan and I moved into our new home on the 13th. We're STILL unpacking boxes. It's nearly gotten to the point where I like the box that sits at the end of the hall or by the back door. Ryan's becoming more impatient with each day that passes and the boxes don't move. (I think he's forgotten that he too has hands to help unpack.)

I've started my new job with Child and Youth Services at Fort Lewis. (Apparently, they have a really good reputation for excellent child care and curriculum. Various workers are bragging.) I'm not thrilled about "day care," but at least it's a job and gets my foot in the door for other positions within the system. But I also forgot to mention that I've just completed THREE SOLID DAYS OF TRAINING JUST to be an on-call/flexible worker. Ha! That's right. My degree, experience, and knowledge have only gotten me an on-call position. Luckily, the trainers all expressed what a great need there are for more teachers. Without promising anything, they've said hours will not be hard to come by. And I'm starting at the "target" hourly wage... because of my degree. Feels nice to know that I at least get paid more than others.

We celebrated Ryan's 27th birthday with some local friends: Dan & Jess Oakes (and Mabry, of course), Jeremy & Jessie McGuffey (and their son, Conner), and Joe Guyton & his girlfriend Kara. Ryan grilled steaks for everyone and there was ice cream cake for dessert. Afterwards, we played some poker.

Ryan and I attend 8-1 CAV's Hail & Farewell on the 21st. It was held at the Grand Prix Raceway (go karts). I didn't race, but Ryan did. Wish I'd gotten better pictures. All the men there were real competitive... too much testosterone, if you ask me.
It's been quite an ordeal to get telephone service, Direct TV, and high speed internet. I won't go into details. All I have to say on the matter is I HATE STUPID PEOPLE. While I'm on the stupid-people kick, I attempted to purchase new vehicle tags for the Jeep and Tiburon today. Had to make two trips, neither successful... because of a moron. I'll have to go tomorrow. Anyway, that has been our life, in a nutshell, for the past few weeks.

It's surreal... Mabry, not Madigan.
Just yesterday, when Jess and I had attended Mabry's anatomy scan, we discovered the cesarean (aka Mabry) was scheduled for 09/19/2007, one day after the anniversary of Dan's return from Iraq.
(...We also learned I have a monstrous kadonkadonk.)
